Mission

The Association exists with an objective to provide continuing education of judicial, corrections and human services and better inform the public as to roles in promoting security and well-being for all the state's citizenry.

History of the South Dakota Corrections Association

Founded on February 29, 1956, by a talented group of pioneering judicial and corrections professionals, the original premise for the Association has not altered, namely, equality of justice tempered with humanity for the victim as well as for the offender.

The architects for the Association forged a common union of instilling integrity, compassion and flexibility in addressing the multi-faced issues of criminal offenses against another citizen and state.
